Robbers Nabbed with Military Ammunition

Some three harden armed robbers who have been operating in Kumba, Limbe, Buea and Mamfe of the South West Region have finally been arrested in Bamenda, North West Region by the elements of the Judicial Police Bamenda.

The armed robbers, Tata Franklin Ngwayi alias Hausa age 24 from Nkambe, Tebo Vegrans alias Tebo Elvis 22 from Batibo and Ngwa Ernest Ambe 26, of Bafut all from the North West Region, were arrested on Monday November 19, 2012 in Bamenda after operating in 7 localities especially at Wisdom Snack Bar and students’ hostel mile 7 Nkwen.

Surprisingly, the brigands were caught with military ammunition and guns including Laptops, Cellphones, Musical Sets and the tools they use to break into homes.

While in the North West Region, the robbers had their base at Batibo in Momo Division, from where they terrorise the neighbour hood with impunity.

At the Judicial Police Bamenda where they were presented to the Bamenda Public on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, the youngest of the robbers, Tebo Vegrans Tiba alias Tebo Elvis, 22, told the Press that they procured the military ammunition and guns from their regular supplier, a Limbe base Taxi man, whose only name he gave as Barnabas. He confessed that although the said Barnabas was their regular supplier of the military ammunition, they have never killed before.

On a one-on-one with the Bamenda Judicial Police Commissioner, Som Mbende Abraham, he told this re　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　porter that the men of the under world go under ground through out the year and re-surface during this time of the year because Christmas and New Year feasts are at the corner in other to raise money for the feast. He said they would have nibbed banditism in the bud in Bamenda and North West Region as a whole, but for the fact that the population is not cooperating with the forces of law and order. Hear him, "The population complain that we do nothing when they complain to us not knowing that we take time to carry out investigation as we are just simply, human beings like anyone else not magicians". He warned that any landlord who hosts a thief without reporting him to the appropriate quarters is an accomplice, equally regretting that most of the bandits are kept by prostitutes in town who claim that they are their husbands.

On a sad note, the Commissioner disclosed that his service does not even have a single service car and so they beg all the time from other services.

The armed robbers were carted to Bafoussam, West Region, to be tried at the Military Tribunal, having been caught with guns and ammunition.
